Table of contents
These Chocolate Chip Coconut Bars have many names - Magic Bars, Hello Dollies, and 7-Layer Bars just to name a few.
I can see where they get a few of their names - 7 Layer Bars because there are 7 ingredients that you layer on top of each other and Magic Bars because, well, everything about this recipe is magic!
There are lots of chocolate chip cookie bars out there that require making a dough or batter like you would for chocolate chip cookies and while these are delicious, this is even better.
To make this magic cookie bar recipe, there is no mixing involved. No separate mixing bowls and measuring flour, sugar and everything else.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS RECIPE
- A simple crust made with butter and graham crackers
- Able to increase or decrease the amount of coconut to suit your preference
- Can be topped with condensed milk or other flavored milk variety
And, BONUS, your mixer doesn't even need to come out of the cupboard!
I took the basic magic bars recipe and added a few little twists to make these Triple Chocolate Coconut Bars.
As mentioned above, I incorporated coconut into the graham cracker crust...along with a little bit of rum! I also added rum to the condensed milk mixture with a few spices.
It turned this into a truly magical dessert bar for sure!
If you're in a pinch, you can omit the rum of course but I think it's a nice added touch.
